Also, you tell me to go download the updates myself and the validation button does not work on the site. I am frustrated about this issue and concerned that Windows Vista apparently has a BUG in it when it comes to using the Windows Update and nobody seems to take concern that many people are experiencing this very same problem. If you dont have a viable solution please do not even bother to reply to this because I have tried EVERYTHING that has been suggested in this forum up to date. I probably sound stupid and idiotic but I am trying to make this as clear as possible.

Has my virus software been inffected? My Windows Defender comes with Windows Vista Business so I am unable to uninstall it and reinstall it because it is attached to my Windows vista. Meanwhile, my computer is at risk now to viruses and spy ware and whatever else is lurking out there because I cannot download and update my virus software.

Again, my concern is that this is extremely COMMON among Vista users and am wondering if any professional TECH person is aware of this and is trying to find a solution to this problem. I have done everything that has been suggested and now find that that does not help either. I am trying very hard to be as specific as possible. I am simply an owner of a business that uses my computer to do my business on a daily basis. Please note: Although I am fairly competent in using a computer and have some knowledge, I am not a programmer or anything like that. I have tried phoning and emailing to no avail. I also note that it seems that trying to get a Microsoft professional to help is useless. I have also noticed that although many people are trying to solve this problem, NOBODY seems to give any sort of helpful solutions to this problem. I have never had any problems updating my computer and only in the past few weeks has this been happening. That is a common theme it seems and am concerned that Windows Vista is not a sufficient program to use. I have been going over the Microsoft Website trying to find answers and I see that there are many others who are experiencing this very same problem as I am experiencing. At the same time, I am unable to check for any Windows Defender Updates because that is telling me that it cannot check for updates. Currently, I am experiencing failure to download three updates.
I have received error codes such as 80240016 and other ones concerning not able to check for updates. In the past few weeks I have been experiencing many problems concerning Windows Update. I am currently using Windows Vista 32-bit.
